Resources to borrow

Our books and videos are all listed on our database. Click here to search our database.

Resources available to borrow include over 6,500 books, Big Books, 450 videos, CD Roms, Posterpacks, CDs/cassette tapes, Topic Packs, slides and Artefact Boxes containing items used by major faiths.

If we are buying books for the Centre which you then want to borrow for study then we will usually try to buy secondhand.

Resources to buy

Books and videos covering all areas of the curriculum can be ordered and invoiced through us from the Diocesan Bookshop. There is usually a 10% discount for books intended for individual use and sometimes more for bulk orders or large quantities of one particular item.

Publishers seem to have very short print runs nowadays but we always buy new books for you if we can. We will ask you beforehand if we need to buy secondhand copies for your personal use.

We order artefacts and posters directly from stockists, or through our local bookshops :

Christian Bookshop in London Road, Southend - books, CDs/cassettes and videos.

Theological Studies

Although we are mainly used as a lending library we are also here to provide a wide range of information on areas such as :

National Courses in all areas of Religious Study and Training / Degrees for Religious education.

Local training courses and faith groups in all denominations.

Research in the form of books, videos or poster packs needed for study.

If you have asked us if we can buy into the Centre, a copy of the book you need for your course, so that you can then borrow it, we nearly always buy secondhand if the book is available.
