    About our work with schools

We work with the Diocesan & Essex LEA Schools Advisors, as well as meeting twice a year with advisors from other Centres in Southern England.

        Resources range from

    • soft artefacts, Big Books, songs & activities for the Early Years
    • Infant & Junior workpacks, DVD’s, CD Roms, storybooks, posters & drama
    • easy theology, philosophy & ethical studies for GCSE & ‘A’ level
    • and a theological library for degree study.

We have an online searchable database containing all our books and videos.

    Buying Resources

Although our primary purpose is to lend out, we are also very willing to track down books, videos, poster packs and CD ROMs covering all areas of the curriculum. These can then be ordered and invoiced through us from the Diocesan Bookshop. There is usually a 10% discount for books intended for individual use and usually more for bulk orders or large quantities of one item.

    INSET

Some Schools have already benefited from using the Resource Centre in conjuction with the Lounge and adjoining kitchen, (part of the Hall complex at St Barnabas), for running their own staff discussion and training days. Then they have the advantage of planning with resources at hand.

This costs £15 a session, which is usually one and a half to two hours. Please contact us for more information.

We also work with the Diocesan and Essex LEA Schools Advisors taking our stock to training days arranged by the advisors at the local CDC's. Southend SACRE also meets every so often at the Centre.

We are currently looking at the requirements for OFSTED.
